Project Description
Disassemble the existing granite north entrance stairs, railings and limestone cheek walls. Demolish brick foundations below the stairs. Reconstruct the stairs with new reinforced concrete foundations and new granite treads. Reconstruct the cheek walls with reinforced concrete foundations, new limestone and salvaged granite blocks that are in good condition and which have been cleaned. Repoint joints in brick foundations walls beneath the stairs on the north side of the building. Install new bronze ornamental handrails on the stairs. Remove and replace the 3 bays of existing main doorways (total of 9 doors) Replace door frames and doors and prepare for future access control system installation. Install new light poles on the cheek walls with LED type lamps.

Cut a new access opening with door and frame into the space beneath the stairs from the basement of the building. Relocate a compressor for the new access.

Replace part of the sidewalk north of the building with new to match existing pattern. Protect remaining sidewalks and landscaping around the building. Perform landscaping and site restoration.

A MANDATORY pre-bid meeting will be held in Hospitality room of Foellinger Auditorium, 709 S. Mathews Ave., Urbana Illinois. Enter through the southeast accessible entrance, on 11/01/18 at 1:00 PM prevailing time. Representatives of the Owner and the Professional Services Consultant will be present to answer questions regarding the project and bidding procedures. All prospective bidders are REQUIRED to attend.
