Description of Project
This project will consist of the replacement of the Exterior Windows and Storefront of the Pennsylvania Avenue Residence Hall (PAR). The Pennsylvania Avenue Residence Hall (PAR) comprises multiple student housing buildings with a central Lounge/Dining building. The complex was constructed in 1963.
A previous feasibility study will serve as the initial basis for this design effort. The feasibility study was completed in December, 2003. The following project data was compiled from that study:
- The Phase II Project involves replacement of approx. 36,350 SF of Aluminum Windows.
- The Construction will be phased over 2 separate summers (2005 and 2006) with approx. 10 weeks of construction to Substantial Completion each summer.
- The Phase I project be completed in 2004 (a separate project). This work comprises the replacement of existing exterior hollow metal doors and storefront construction.
- A separate project is also currently underway studying the feasibility of redesigning and renovating the Dining Rooms & Dining Services. This project will study the first floor south entry storefront of the Lounge building and the lower level storefront on the east and west facades of the Lounge Building. Upon completion of the Dining Rooms & Dining Services study it will be determined if these areas will become part of this Window Replacement project.
