Project Description The University of Illinois' Urbana campus seeks design services for a comprehensive life safety project in the Foreign Language Building (FLB). Built in 1971, FLB is a four story office and classroom structure prominently located on the UI's Quad. The project scope includes: installation of life safety components including, fire suppression (sprinkler) system in atrium and four floors; upgrades and/or extension of fire alarm system to provide visual and audible notification; improvement of the means of egress (stairway and corridor, signage, emergency lighting and door hardware); and the addition of fire stopping. The project will also include minor modifications of controls and distribution equipment associated with heating and cooling systems to improve building comfort.
