Project Description
The University of Illinois is seeking professional services consultants for the design, bid/award, and construction administration services for Urbana-Champaign Big Broadband (UC2B) detailed construction plans for 151.82 miles of fiber infrastructure. UC2B is an intergovernmental consortium comprised of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the City of Champaign and the City of Urbana. With the University serving as the lead agency, the consortium sought and received Federal “stimulus” funding and bond-based funding from the State of Illinois to build the UC2B network – a community-owned fiber-optic infrastructure that will provide high-speed yet low cost internet and local connectivity to residents, businesses and Anchor Institutions.
