Project Description
The Oncology Services mission is to provide the best cancer care that patients and their human caretakers deserve through the compassionate delivery of cutting edge technologies. These technologies include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapies and clinical trials to evaluate new and developing technologies. Delivery of these services must be the most advanced, most sophisticated and most effective cancer care offered in the United States. The Veterinary Medicine Small Animal Clinic's cancer care will combine a unique blend of compassion and science that will be delivered in a client and patient-centered environment, which reduces stress in veterinary patients and their human families. Meeting this goal is the purpose for the expanded Oncology Center. The project will design and construct a new Oncology Center as an addition to the Small Animal Clinic at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital along with renovation of existing spaces as required.
The project will begin with a Conceptualization Phase to confirm location of the proposed addition and the availability of required utilities followed by the Schematic Design Phase to better define the scope, schedule, cost, and project delivery method. Following the Schematic Design Phase, the project will seek approval and a funding increase from the University of Illinois Board of Trustees. It is also the University's intent to utilize the same PSC for the remainder of the project for design development, construction documents, bidding, construction administration, and warranty phase professional services.
