This amendment is for the following items of work:
  • Review existing design and as-built documents
  • Visit site to verify existing conditions
  • Develop basis of design summarizing all key design elements
  • Develop schematic layouts for the following:
    • Steam turbine generator in the cogeneration plant
    • Cooling tower on roof of the steam plant
    • Electric centrifugal chiller in the central chilled water plant
  • Perform structural analysis of existing building structure in light of addition of the steam turbine generator and cooling tower
  • Develop mechanical and electrical schematic level P&IDs
  • Develop requirements for generator electrical interconnections, generator controls, and generator protection
  • Develop opinion of probable cost to install the steam turbine generator, cooling tower, electric centrifugal chiller, and associated components
  • Issue final report to UIC. The report will also include the opinion of probable cost regarding addition of the steam turbine chiller, which we will develop under our current contract
  • Participate in a review meeting with the UIC Utility Operations Team to review the final report

Description of Project
This project will consist of providing Architectural/Engineering services for the development of contract documents for the installation of a new 2000 ton steam turbine drive centrifugal chiller at the West Campus of the University of Illinois at Chicago. This project is part of the University of Illinois at Chicago Chilled Water Development Plan.

Professional Services Consultant Submittals
Firms should submit six copies of the following: a letter of interest, a copy of its CDB prequalification letter, and a 255 form (use latest CDB SF form) by 4:00 p.m. August 2, 2004 addressed to:

The submission of six copies of each item prepared in response to the Quality Based Selection (QBS) will facilitate review by the University's selection committee.

Architect/Engineer selection will be consistent with the Architectural, Engineering, and Land Surveying Qualifications Based Selection Act (30 ILCS 535/1).

Minimum Qualifications
Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered for selection:

  • Licensed to practice as an Architect/Engineer in the State of Illinois
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois
  • Utilization of AutoCAD compatible system
