The University awarded a contract for an Integrated Chemical and Microbial Platform.
The requested equipment is necessary to complete key tasks of the project. Specifically, the Agilent 8890 GC / 7000E QQQ MS/MS EI/CI system is required for high throughput flavor molecule screening and for exact quantitation of selected odor-important molecules by stable isotope dilution analysis in complex matrices.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) The Agilent 7000E (QQQ-MS) has a Jetclean option that is essential for efficient use/application of the equipment for meeting the aggressive requirements of the grant. Agilent is the only vendor to offer the maintenance free, JetClean ion source.(30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8))
