The University awarded a contract for legal services to intervene in the Illinois Commerce Commission docket #16-0453 to protect the interests of the Energy Resources Center (UIC College of Engineering) and the University in securing grant funding through the Illinois Power Agency Energy Procurement Plan. As part of its research and community outreach mission, the Energy Resources Center (ERC) has submitted three grant proposals through the Illinois Power Agency to assist two Illinois utilities ? ComEd and Ameren Illinois - in working with managers of low income housing and community action agencies to improve the energy efficiency of low income housing in Illinois. The contract number is CN-00027736. The responsible decision maker is Thomas R. Bearrows. There was a need with a firm with highly specialized experience for matters before the Illinois Commerce Commission, and secondly the rates were significantly less than other vendors reviewed.
