The University awarded a contract for
the rental of a portable chiller.
This emergency/quick purchase was required due to a situation in which
immediate action was needed to prevent any disruption in University services
The chiller in Horrabin Hall provides air conditioning to the building. The chiller could not be started and cannot be repaired. Horrabin Hall is an instructional building which also houses a daycare center and offices for University staff and faculty. Due to the lack of windows and the ventilation issues without the air conditioning, temperatures and humidity levels become intolerable.
An interim solution must be utilized in order to cool the building to prevent a disruption of services and protect the health of the people occupying the building. The building houses a daycare and is the site of summer school classes and various summer camps.
The University will be developing plans and specifications in order to solicit bids for the permanent chiller replacement. The portable chiller rental is an interim solution.
