The University awarded a contract for Cordis Enterprise Stent Device and Delivery System.
The Cordis Enterprise Stent Device and Delivery System Catheters are used to treat wide neck aneurysms.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Its design is unique and is only available by this manufacturer. This device allows neuro interventionalists to treat aneurysms that were previously untreatable via an endovascular approach. An endovascular repair involves the surgeon making an incision in the patients groin. Using Envoy wires and guided by special X-rays, the surgeon inserts a prosthetic Enterprise stent graft into the carotid artery at the level of the aneurysm.
