This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for periodicals, books, subscriptions, database licenses, and other publications procured for use by a university library or academic department, except for expenditures related to procuring textbooks for student use or materials for resale or rental. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(5)) Academic Analytics is the only vendor that captures the structure of tenure/tenure-track faculty at over 400 institutions in the United States. They are also the only vendor that collects over 16,000 national honorific awards and matches them to scholars. Their database provides an effective means for UIC to track and communicate with our alumni. The company's resources form the essential basis of our efforts directed at increasing honorific awards for our faculty and for tracking our training success.
