Announcement of an Exempt Purchase

Siemens Multitom Rax is a twin robotic x-ray scanner that offers advanced radiography at an expert level with less patient positioning and transfers.

This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) One piece of equipment has been completely down since November 2020 that is delaying patient care. The other x-ray room equipment is at the end of useful life and having service issues because of unavailability of parts. The new system will increase patient and staff safety, improve image quality, and robotic arms with automatic positioning to accommodate the staff and patients. The Multitom Rax has options for additional upgrades that expand services and utilization.
