The University awarded a contract for TEG 6s Hemostasis Analyzer.
TEG 6s Hemostasis Analyzer is a cartridge-based diagnostic system that allows for real-time analysis of a patient's ability to clot to help to rapidly and more effectively tailor transfusions and pharmaceutical needs for the patient.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The analyzers will provide the upgrade needed for the laboratory and clinicians to get information faster than the current system and more comprehensive data on the hemostasis of the patient. It will also allow the lab to remove the TEG 5000 analyzers in place and absorb a substantial annual QC (Quality Control) savings as well as extensive laboratory manhours dedicated to that platform as the TEG 6s improves on all of the logistic limitations of the TEG 5000.
