The University awarded a contract for the Micromedex software information system.
Micromedex is a drug database that provides fast-track clinical decision support for healthcare providers.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Micromedex provides critical drug information at point of patient care for all healthcare professionals at UI Hospital caring for patients. It is integrated with the EHR system to allow clinicians to look up and investigate therapeutic options and information required to care for patients. In circumstances when therapy options are limited, Micromedex assists providers to identify potential therapy options and reference to allow researching therapies not readily known.
