The University awarded a contract for walk-through metal detectors.
This is a rental of walk through metal detectors at Credit Union 1 Arena and UIC Dorin Forum.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for athletic, artistic or musical services, performances, events, or productions by or for a public institution of higher education. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(4)) Using these metal detectors will reduce lines and wait times for patrons coming to Credit Union 1 Arena and UIC Dorin Forum for events. Additionally, it is becoming more difficult for Monterrey to fill the calls needed for some of our events. Using these will require fewer Monterrey personnel, thus reducing that cost to help offset the cost of these new detectors.
