The University awarded a contract for a study abroad program.
This is a study abroad program to send students to the Paris Olympic Games to study the intersection of sports and society within the context of the world's largest global sporting event.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for placement of students in externships, practicums, field experiences, and for medical residencies and rotations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(6)) The opportunity to send students to the Paris Olympic games on a study abroad program is a unique one and will afford students a rare educational experience to study the intersection of sports and society within the context of the world's largest global sporting event. Seagull Transformations Inc. is uniquely positioned to be the on-site vendor for this program given their industry connections and expertise. This will ensure a high-quality program and help promote the safety of the group given Seagull's experience and staffing.
