This purchase is for Event Security and Usher assistance at Credit Union 1 Arena
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for athletic, artistic or musical services, performances, events, or productions by or for a public institution of higher education. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(4)) Credit Union 1 Arena needs these services to host successful events to generate revenue for UIC. We use them to monitor the object detectors at the entrances and as general security throughout the building during events. They also fill in as ushers when we can not get enough student ushers to work shifts for events.
