The University awarded a contract for Pediatric Gastroenterology (GI) services.
Provision of Pediatric Gastroenterology (GI) services, physician staffing, and direct patient care outpatients and for acutely ill hospitalized inpatients in the Hospital?s inpatient units. Primary services activities include, but are not limited to, patient examination and consultation, treatment planning, periodic review of dosage and effectiveness for quality control purposes, periodic examination of patients pre, during, and post treatment course, etc.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This procurement enhances the clinical aspects of the Department of Pediatrics by increasing access to care for Pediatric Gastroenterology patients. There is a positive impact on the department and College of Medicine by obtaining clinical resources collaboratively while expanding our patient base.
