The University awarded a contract for a Q-Exactive HF Mass Spectrometer.
Q-Exactive HF Mass Spectrometer. This high resolution mass spectrometer and nanoLC will be used for a variety of proteomics studies including quantitative (e.g. TMT and DIA) analysis, protein identification and post-translational modification analysis. This cutting-edge technology will provide accurate and reliable data to the UIC researchers who have significant NIH funding in biomedical and translational research in cancer, neurological diseases, obesity and diabetes.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) The NIH shared instrument grant was supported by 8 UIC faculty members from 8 departments/colleges who also proposed their research work that would be conducted on this instrument. The cutting-edge technology implemented in this instrument will provide accurate and reliable proteomics data to the UIC researchers who have significant NIH funding in biomedical and translational research in cancer, neurological diseases, obesity and diabetes. Furthermore, because the majority of the fund comes from federal fund, the rate will be considerately low to all UI users
