Announcement of an Exempt Purchase

Bariatric Bed - Model MV3. This model bed can be used as a standard hospital bed, but can also be expanded to accommodate the heaviest patients. This bed can expand on each side and also expand in length to accommodate the greatest range of patients. The bed can accommodate a weight capacity of 1,050 lbs.

This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This purchase is part of the hospital wide bed replacement project and this beds features will provide for better patient care and comfort of all bariatric patients.
