The University awarded a contract for Trios modular table system and accessories.
Trios modular table system and accessories for use in surgery for orthopedic trauma, spinal surgery, and imaging.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) All of the current equipment has reached the ten year end of life threshold, at which point the company cannot guarantee the safety of the equipment due to the naturally occurring breakdown of the carbon fiber components that allow for the radiolucent imaging of patients on the table. The new table ensures that the Hospital will have safe equipment for spinal and orthopedic procedures for the next ten years. Improvements in technology have been incorporated into the newer generation table making them easier to use and safer for patients, surgeons, and staff. The new table offers a patented imaging memory function that will reduce the number of x-ray images needed in a case that reduces radiation exposure to patients, staff, and surgeons. This function will reduce operating room case time.
