The University awarded a contract for SliceScope Pro 3000 system.
The SliceScope Pro 3000 system is custom built. The equipment has Patch-clamp rigs complete with microscope and all accessories.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) Procurement of this equipment will allow the Zak lab to begin to collect the necessary data for the submission of federal and foundation award applications. The Zak lab receiving these awards provides revenue (Facilities &Administrative) for the University.
