The University awarded a contract for an ophthalmic imaging system.
Ophthalmic Imaging System provides measurement of the anterior and posterior corneal surfaces supplies the total refractive power as well as the thickness of the cornea over its entire area.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Within just two seconds the Pentacam supplies you with precise diagnostic data on the entire anterior eye segment. The data on the posterior surface provide optimal assistance in the early detection of corneal changes. The rotating scan supplies a large number of data points in the center of the cornea. A supplementary pupil camera captures eye movements during the examination for subsequent automatic correction of measured data.
