The University awarded a contract for an online repository service.
The University Library is purchasing access to this online repository service where we can store and make available scholarly content produced by UIC faculty and students. The content can then me be made accessible to the public for research purposes.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for periodicals, books, subscriptions, database licenses, and other publications procured for use by a university library or academic department, except for expenditures related to procuring textbooks for student use or materials for resale or rental. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(5)) Faculty and students will have their publications and articles available for research worldwide adding to the University's Research(R1) status.
