The University awarded a contract for Event set-up, clean-up, tear-down.
This company will be used as a supplement to student workers. The workers assist in setting up for events (build concert stages, setup the basketball court, clean up before, during and after events, reset the building for the next event such as take down stages, basketball court etc...
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for events or activities paid for exclusively by revenues generated by the event or activity, gifts, or donations for the event or activity, private grants, or any combination thereof. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(2)) Without outside assistance we would not be able to host events as there would not be enough staff to set the building up in time, especially when there are multiple events in a week with totally different setups.
