The University awarded a contract for an Invia Raman Spectrometer.
Renishaw Invia Raman Spectrometer. We have a grant that supports research in the area of high energy density materials. This instrument is critical for us to deliver on the program that we outlined in our proposal.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) If we do not purchase this instrument, the university will not be able to deliver on what we said that we would do in terms of the research goals that we set out in our proposal.
