The University awarded a contract for Peripheral Products.
Peripheral products are required supplies that are used in a variety of Peripheral Vascular Interventional procedures including Peripheral Vascular (PV) Vena Cava Filters, various biopsy needles, catheters, instruments and other interventional medical supplies.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Without the required peripheral vascular supplies, the surgeons will not be able to perform and provide the proper level of care for patients. In addition, the patients will go elsewhere for their care and the University will lose revenue.
