The University awarded a contract for 3 Class B Motor Vehicles.
3 Class B motor vehicles for mobile medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) sponsored project.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) This purchase will enable the School of Public Healths Community Outreach Intervention Projects to address the opioid overdose epidemic that has been going on for some time. These vans offers the ability to increase availability of, and immediate access to, medication assisted recovery services and primary care to populations that are actively using opioids and at risk of overdose, and who may have avoided seeking these services at brick-and-mortar drug treatment programs. This novel approach expands these vital services and is fully supported and by the State Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery (SUPR).
