The University awarded a contract for Medical Supplies.
Medical supplies used in Cardiology Services Heart procedures. These items are disposables and are used with the hardware and software of the Biosense Webster Carto 3 Electro-Physiology System that we have in the electrophysiology (EP) Lab.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Procedures performed with this equipment include EP studies, 3D Mapping, and Ablations of the abnormal electrical conduction pathways of the heart. Without access to these supplies, UI Health would not be able to offer lifesaving and preventative surgeries to our patients.
