Announcement of an Exempt Purchase

The BenchMark ULTRA PLUS system is an advanced staining instrument that provides optimized workflow and flexible solutions, helping the anatomic pathology lab manage their activities efficiently and confidently while selecting options that work best for the lab. This instrument provides direct patient care as all laboratory diagnostics.

This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The current Benchmark XT IHC/ISH staining platform is at End of Life and will no longer be supported by Roche Tissue Diagnostics. The current instrumentation is also extremely aged and has become unreliable. The new Ultra Plus will ensure continuity of patient care with the highest quality available. This instrument provides direct patient care as all laboratory diagnostics are considered direct patient care.
