The University awarded a contract for A MaxTwo System.
A high-density microelectrode MaxTwo System. The MaxTwo is a powerful electrical imaging system for drug discovery, safety pharmacology, and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) phenotyping applications.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for contracts with a foreign entity for research or educational activities, where the foreign entity does not maintain an office in the United States or the foreign entity is the sole source of the service or product. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(9)) The MaxTwo System will aid in the research of Autism and Pancreatic Cancer research, among other studies. It will also be utilized in training for medical students and physician residents, which will enhance their skills and knowledge. This will therefore benefit the Department and University through grants and teaching.
