Announcement of an Exempt Purchase

The vendor will provide services to send students to the Galapagos Islands to participate in ongoing research which is a unique one and will afford students a rare educational experience to participate in undergraduate research in an abroad context. The vendor is a Non-profit service provider for study abroad programs.

This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for placement of students in externships, practicums, field experiences, and for medical residencies and rotations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(6)) IES Abroad is uniquely positioned to help UIC facilitate this program due to its knowledgeable on-site staff and connections to local research projects and experts. This partnership will ensure a high-quality program and helps promote the safety of the group given IES' experience and staffing.
