Project Description
The project will include upgrades to the building�??s only elevator to meet current codes and design standards. New corridor and cab controls will be provided which meet ADA requirements. A new OSHA compliant access stair is to be constructed and will extend from the fourth floor to the elevator equipment room located above the elevator hoistway. A steel framed structure with insulated metal panels will be constructed above the roof, adjacent to the existing masonry hoistway to enclose the new access stair. Removal of an existing rooftop mechanical unit will allow for a large roof access to be installed above Elevator Equipment Room. A new rooftop unit will be installed on the new access stair roof to serve loads previously handled by mechanical unit being removed. The project involves construction of rated exit enclosures on each of the five building levels at the north stair and basement of the south stair. Exit signage and stair identification signage will be installed to insure a safe path of travel. Provide additional battery emergency lighting throughout paths of egress. Provide electrical and fire alarm work associated with new elevator, stair enclosure and elevator penthouse upgrade.
