Announcement of an Exempt Purchase

The University has a need to procure a AKTA Pure 150M FPLC (Cytiva Life Sciences) with inlet and outlet valve kits and fraction collector, along assorted chromatographic columns. The FPLC will be used to carry out purification of proteins and/or nucleic acids (tRNA) as needed to meet the goals of the Specific Aims detailed above. The configuration of the instrument allows for multi-wavelength detection, which is critical for the purification of protein-nucleic acid complexes, such as those to be pursued in research and in accordance with the grant.

This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations.
