The University awarded a contract for a high energy laser complete system.
This laser is needed to conduct research in the Dlott laboratory funded by the US Army Research Office as outlined in the proposal that will fund this purchase, titled, "Laser Instrumentation to Measure Energy Release Dynamics and Reaction Zone Structures From Shocked Energetic Materials".
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations.
