The University awarded a contract for subscription to S. Karger journals.
S. Karger journals are highly used health sciences journals covering all disciplines of human medicine in basic and clinical research areas. The Library subscribes to a suite of journals to support UIC students, faculty, and staff in research, learning, and patient care.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for periodicals, books, subscriptions, database licenses, and other publications procured for use by a university library or academic department, except for expenditures related to procuring textbooks for student use or materials for resale or rental. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(5)) The access supports students, faculty and researchers in all sciences at the university, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry and the hospital.
