The University awarded a contract for PM2.5/NO2 and Black Carbon sensors.
Purchase of one-hundred five Clarity PM2.5/NO2 Basic Module Sensors and two Clarity Black Carbon Sensor Modules for the NIST-funded Community-Driven Air Quality and Environmental Justice Assessment" project. This includes a five-year data service subscription.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) This is a community-based project which will bring together three key partners, academia,
community, private sector, under one umbrella to advance the community knowledge about local air quality in environmental justice communities in the west and south/southeast of Chicago and to empower communities to guide policy decisions and partake in the decision making for their future living environment.
