The University awarded a contract for surgical grafts.
Isto offers advanced allograft technology used in neurosurgical and orthopedic surgical procedures. Specifically, the Influx product is a graft created from human bone that improves bone regeneration naturally and can be implanted directly out of the packaging with no need for additional preparation or hydration.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) The medical supplies provided by Isto Biologics. are essential for patient care and particular surgical procedures. Without these implants, surgical services could not provide this patient care, which could result in revenue loss for the hospital.
