The University awarded a contract for Carvycti.
This exemption is for Carvycti, a specialty pharmaceutical used in CAR-T treatments.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) Cardinal Health 105 Inc d/b/a Special Pharmaceutical Services has the exclusive distribution rights to Carvycti. This CAR-T treatment is essential for patient care. Without access to this specialty pharmaceutical, the hospital will not be able to perform certain treatments and patients will seek treatment elsewhere. This will result in a loss of revenue for the hospital.
