The University awarded a contract for vascular medical supplies and implants.
This exemption is for medical supplies and implants used in vascular procedures, testing, and pain management. In this discussion, we will focus on the different supplies utilized in these procedures. These devices and their accompanying accessories are crucial for diagnosing, testing, treating, and managing pain as well as vascular-related conditions. Examples include electrophysiology catheters, pacemakers, optical coherence tomography supplies, angioplasty balloons, spinal pain management stimulators, and ancillaries.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) These are medical supplies and implants for patient care.
