The University awarded a contract for tricuspid implants and accessories.
This exemption is for tricuspid implants and accessories. Edwards Pascal and Evoque are two different transcatheter heart valve devices from Edwards Lifesciences used to treat tricuspid regurgitation . The Pascal system is a repair device that clips the valve leaflets together, while the Evoque system is a replacement device that is fully implanted to replace the diseased valve.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) These implants and accessories are medical supplies for direct patient care.
