The University awarded a contract for cardiac rhythm management supplies.
Medtronic provides cardiac rhythm management supplies used to regulate heart rate and restore normal function. These supplies for cardiac rhythm management products are implantable, battery-powered devices used to diagnose, monitor, and treat heart rhythm disorders. These supplies include leads, cardioverter-defibrillators, absorbable mesh, and additional ancillary devices.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) These supplies are used for direct patient care.
