The University awarded a contract for specialty pharmaceutical drugs.
This exemption is for the purchase of specialty pharmaceuticals including but not limited to Livdelzi, Lupkynis, Tymlos and Skytrofa that are used at UI Hospital and Clinics. The manufacturers of these pharmaceuticals have granted distribution rights solely to CuraScript and they can only be obtained from this vendor.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) These medications are for direct patient care.
