The University awarded a contract for construction services.
Construction services for the architectural exhibition at the 2021 Architecture Biennial.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for events or activities paid for exclusively by revenues generated by the event or activity, gifts, or donations for the event or activity, private grants, or any combination thereof. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(2)) The School of Architecture has been awarded grant funding and fundraising to support it's selection as commissioner of the U.S. Pavilion at the 2021 Architecture Biennial to be held in Venice, Italy. The exhibition design centers around a temporary structure constructed on-site at the Guggenheim Foundation's American Pavilion site in Venice, Italy. Working with Minto will allow the construction to move forward on the timeline needed for the scheduled opening of the exhibition in May. As the manager with Minto is fluent in English, it will also allow the planning team to work with them directly without an interpreter translating all communications, which will ease the project significantly and provide cost-savings.
