The University awarded a contract for optical coherence tomography system.
OPTIS Mobile System combines optical coherence tomography (OCT) and fractional flow reserve (FFR) on a mobile system for seamless integration into multiple cath labs. This system will be used to guide and optimize percutaneous coronary interventions, maximizing results with minimal risk. It will improve stent size selection, vessel preparation safety and standardizes stent expansion and apposition assessment post implantation. The system will assist operators to ensure that patients are appropriate candidates to receive a stent or would benefit most from optimal medical therapy.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical services necessary for the delivery of care and treatment at medical, dental, or veterinary teaching facilities utilized by SIU or U of I (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This will allow the Physicians to precisely measure the vessel size and pathology to treat each specific patient.
