The University awarded a contract for Preventative maintenance and servicing for all 395.
Preventative maintenance and servicing for all 395 patient beds, including ICU beds, MedSurg beds, maternal beds, and bariatric beds.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) This procurement is in the best interest of the University because it ensures the hospital's systems are covered under a comprehensive Service and Support Agreement. This agreement guarantees regular software updates, routine maintenance, and scheduled servicing, which are critical for maintaining operational efficiency and minimizing disruptions to surgical staff. Without this agreement, the systems would rely on a time-and-materials approach, which could result in significantly higher costs and increased downtime, negatively impacting hospital operations and patient care.
