Announcement of an Exempt Purchase

Scanning electron microscope (SEM) desired for in-lab inspection of features on the order of 100s of nanometers and identification of chemical composition of fabricated materials. Transport of samples to other SEMs on campus risks damage to samples, and significant waiting times have been encountered at other campus SEM, slowing down our research.

This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations.
