The University awarded a contract for Data Science and Mapping Consulting Services.
Works Public, LLC will provide data science and mapping consulting services with a focus on the deployment and policymaking of broadband internet in the state of Illinois. Aligning with the needs of the Illinois Broadband Lab (IBL), this may include: Development of custom maps and spatial data visualization, creation of interactive tools to support broadband decision-making using geographic and tabular data, execution of ad hoc data analysis and reporting based on IBLs needs, support for data validation, cleanup, integration, and transformation, collaboration with IBL stakeholders to define analytics- and data-dependent goals, data-oriented project management, workshop facilitation, and meeting attendance, and aligned activities necessary to implement the state of Illinois BEAD Plan.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for performing sponsored research and other sponsored activities under grants and contracts funded by the sponsor or by sources other than State appropriations. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(8)) Being paid for by federal grant money received from the State of Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
