The University awarded a contract for Traffic Control Services.
Provide traffic control services for events held at Credit Union 1 Arena.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for events or activities paid for exclusively by revenues generated by the event or activity, gifts, or donations for the event or activity, private grants, or any combination thereof. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(2)) Without this exemption the University may be unable to obtain the traffic control services required to safely manage vehicles and pedestrian traffic during large events at Credit Union 1 Arena. Without these services, the University could face event delays, increased safety risks, and the potential cancellation or reduction of major events. This would result in lost event revenue and negatively impact the arena's operations.
