The University awarded a contract for compression supplies.
This exemption is for compression supplies designed to prevent deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. The supplies include tubing and various sizes of compression sleeves for the legs, ankles, and feet, accommodating all body types.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for medical supplies or medical at a university-operated health care center or dispensary that provides care, treatment, and medications for students, faculty and staff (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b-5)) These supplies are essential for direct patient care. Without access to these supplies, the hospital cannot offer patient care. Consequently, the University will be unable to perform patient care, causing patients to seek care elsewhere. This will result in a loss of revenue for the University.
